Dr. Maria Asis, M.D., F.A.C.O.G. was born in Cordoba, Argentina. She graduated valedictorian from Sacred Heart Academy, Hamden, CT in 1981. She then attended Tufts University, where she graduated magna cum laude and also graduated from Tufts School of Medicine in 1989. During her education, she also worked as a research assistant in the Department of Reproductive Endocrinology at Yale Medical School.
From 1989 to 1993, Dr. Asis did her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. Upon graduating in 1993, she came back to New Haven to join her father in practice. She maintained an interest in reproductive medicine and infertility, and has expanded that interest to include menopausal issues.
To this end, she has lectured, is a member of the North American Menopause Society and is currently working toward her Menopause Specialty Certificate within the Society. In addition to this interest, Dr. Asis has developed an expertise in Robotic Surgery and she is active in developing educational protocols within the Obstetrical department at the Hospital of Saint Raphael.
Dr. Asis is a diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the New Haven Obstetrical Society. She is also a member of the Clinical Quality Assurance Review Board at the Hospital of Saint Raphael.
